The absolute best part of our trip to Italy. Cycling through Tuscany to San Gimignano by E-bike was incredible. Only wish we had a few more hours of sunlight so we could have seen absolutely everything. Massimo and his son Jacopo were a delight. So nice to experience a business owner so positive, excited and eager to ensure customers have the absolute BEST trip. They happily went over and above to research our return bus schedule to Florence, and offered to drive us to the neighboring town so we could catch a later bus so not be rushed to get back. Made our vacation!!! The bikes were great, worked perfect, easy to operate and were equipped with everything we may need - saddle bags with safety vests and repair kits. Even gave us a package of pasta that was locally made and with locally grown grains (It was delicious - Thank You Massimo). If I ever return to Italy it will be to Montespertoli so I can take every trip that Toscana By Bike has to offer. Thank you for being, hands-down, the highlight of our month-long trip through Italy.

Imprescindible experiencia.

Great guide, great tour, great meals and very easy to ride the electric bikes - what else?

This is an amazing experience and Massimo is incredible. He went way out of his way with us (he even stopped at his own home to get an icepack for my wife's bruised knee!). The bikes are super easy, the scenery is beyond amazing. Just a fantastic experience and we can't recommend it any more highly. This surpassed all of our expectations. If you're considering it, don't hesitate (and you'll be glad you didn't!).

Two of us hired e-bikes for 4 days two weeks ago. We were staying just outside Montespertoli.
Massimo was so helpful - his English is very good and he explained everything about the bikes and about the routes. The bikes were in very good condition and I am a convert. Would never have got up the beautiful Tuscan hills without one.
Thank you Massimo

Massimo is a great guy, excellent English and has been so helpful with planning our cycling day trips.
We hired e-Bike’s for the children (9&11) and myself and my husband had a off road bike. The bikes were excellent- so much so I’m a convert to e-bikes. They are perfect for hilly Tuscany and for keeping up with my fit husband.
We based ourselves in Colle del Val D’Elsa and went for a day rides to San Gimignano(25km), Siena (35km) returning by train, Volterra (35km) returning by Massimo’s van. It was a brilliant 3 days. Such great family fun. We went on a lot of gravel roads with little traffic and brilliant views.

Massimo was so helpful in giving us directions and advice.
We can’t wait to return, perhaps next time we will tour using the e-bikes and panniers, touring and staying in Agritourismo/ farm stays would be brilliant.
Massimo acts as a guide also, so you can have him join him if you prefer.
Great company, I highly recommend them.

I'm in Tuscany (Florence) for 7+ weeks and tried to do this early on but had to cancel due to severe thunderstorms. Now, I'm at the end of my time here, and it finally came together so that I could rent an e-bike and ride in the glorious Tuscan countryside. It was a perfect day -- perfect weather, perfect routes, perfect bike (an e-bike is like having a superpower), perfect directions and assistance from Massimo, the delightful owner. I meant to do a 30 km ride but couldn't stop and ended up doing nearly 50 km, getting lost just enough to make it interesting. Massimo was psyched and so was I! Highly recommended. If I'm back next year, I'll do this every chance I get.

Not only did we get to see beatiful Tuscan countryside up close and at a pace of our choosing, we were greeted and provided with superious customer service in every way. Massimo personally fitted the bike to each of us, cleaned and fitted our helmets, cleaned our bikes and ensured they were mechanically aok. He gave us suggested routes to take and suggestions for views and places to eat lunch. He provided maps, safety vests, cycle bags with a repair kit, rain coat, bottle of water, He helped me download the route map onto my iphone. He and his son Jacopo gave us their cell phone numbers in case we got lost. He explained how to use the bike and guided us out of town to start our ride. He made sure we were comfortable with the bikes. He gave us a great recommendation for tagliere lunch at Casa del Combattente in SanPancrazio. The ride itself was fabulous - past valleys, olive groves, vineyards, castles and so many great vistas of Tuscany - and all off the beaten tourist path. This was a truly authentic experience of Italy.

We just had a wonderful day on the authentic Tuscany e-bike tour. Jacob was our guide and he was the best! Very friendly and informative. Our tour offered beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside, minimal traffic and lunch/wine tasting at the castle. There was plenty of uphill but the hills are a breeze with the electric bike. My 70 year old father accompanied us with no problem at all. The downhill stretches were so fun! The owner Massimo was so welcoming and friendly. If you want a pleasant day outside in Tuscany away from the crowds...book your tour now! You will not be disappointed!!

First of all Massimo was just wonderful to us, just so friendly and absolutely loves what he does. They are there to make your day great, he gave us a map and he detailed out every spot we needed to go to as well as we downloaded the app- maps.me which definetly helped us to navigate thru Tuscany. We spent 6 nights in Italy and this was by far our very best day, we did the self-guided ebike tour. Okay and let me let all of you know that if you decided that you want a challenge than rent regular bikes but I am telling you within the first 30 minutes you will be back at the shop asking for the ebike. There is so much to see and just incredible views of the countryside that by taking the ebikes it makes it very enjoyable!!!!! We also stopped off at a winery that Massimo recommended and did some wine tasting and came home with 3 bottles of wine. Such a great way to see the countryside, thank you Massimo for making our trip so great can't wait to see you again!!!!!! Gregg and Lara

This is the only review I have ever done. Massimo and his son Giacobbo (i hope i have the correct spelling) are special hosts and two great people. They treated our family of 6 (4 daughters age range 12- 21) like family guests. My wife Tina scheduled the sunset tour with a local guide and Giacobbo was the guide and Massimo followed in the van. Both of them were amazing people with great knowledge of the area. The views are stunning and the ebikes are perfect for the area because they boost you up the many hills. It is still a lot of biking so you should be up for a bike ride. If you are, my family is confident you will appreciate the experience. The stop for a snack was excellent, we all loved it and everyone treats you so well. We took a bus (45 min ride) from Florence then took a train (20 min ride) back. Massimo and Giacobbo drove us to the train station, helped us buy our tickets, and waited with us until our train arrived. It was a special experience, thank you Massimo and Giacobbo.

My family went on a sunset e-bike tour with Massimo and his team in September. The bikes we had were all new and Massimo made sure they were adjusted for us and he provided us with every thing we needed, including helmets and water. The e-bikes enabled us to ride up all the hills fairly easily. As it got late, Massimo followed us in his van and provided lights for our bikes and made sure we were all ok.
The scenery is breathtaking and the sunset just amazing. It is definitely an experience we will never forget.
Massimo is a very special person and we wouldn't hesitate to do this again.

We're young, we're fit and we're Dutch, so we can cycle. Still, Massimo advised to use E-Bikes and boy was he right. Using e-bikes to see Tuscany is great, you can go up any hill even some cars are having problems with, you can go 60 km/h or faster or you can just take your time and enjoy the view. Massimo provided us with everything we needed, the gear, maps and directions and even some bottles of water. He is a warm and welcoming man, really interested and passionate about his country and region. Massimo you're great!

Highly recommended. This made our trip very special. It is worth coming here to just meet Massimo, the owner and operator. He truly wants you to enjoy the experience. He is a very special man. We got a little lost on the initial part of the route, somehow he knew and should up in his van to get us on the right track.
The route was breathtaking and filled with fun. We will come back to do this biking trip again.
The equipment is excellent and he outfits you with everything you can think of, including lights, repair kits, etc.
Honestly, I don't think he makes any money, I truly believe he does this because of the joy he gets from giving.
The sunset was absolutely amazing on the route.

This was an outstanding experience in every way. Thanks to the English-speaking woman who helped us reserve the time. Massimo was particularly flexible regarding the time we needed to start, arranged at the last minute. There was no guide so he gave us a map and directed us. Getting lost was our fault, but when we didn't show up where he expected us to be, he left his lunch to track us down. He then followed us all the way back to the shop, stopping to help our daughter fix her bike when her chain broke. My wife did not feel comfortable coming with the rest of our family and planned to wait in a coffee shop. Gabriel, though, would not allow that and took her to his home, fed her lunch and wine and made her wait so delightful. The e-bikes certainly made the ride manageable even for an old guy like me. All in all, everyone was beyond delightful and helpful beyond what anyone has a right to expect. The beauty of Tuscany became even more apparent through our ability to enjoy the biking experience. e-bikes are where it's at, and Toscana by Bike is where to go. An absolutely awesome experience. Thanks to all for such a special time.

Any one planning a trip to Tuscany, I warmly recommend this bike rental shop, owned and managed by one of the most special persons I've ever encountered.
The equipment is brand new and top branded, with a vast selection of mountain bikes and e-bikes suitable for road and outdoors, allowing to enjoy an amazing and unique experience, even for those who are not accustomed to endurance activity.
Furthermore, Massimo, the owner, "upgrades" your trip with any additional equipment you can't / won't imagine you need (rain coats, locking instruments, flashlights, first aid kit and more), detailed explanation and recommendation on routes, impressive color maps and even a bottle of wine waiting for you upon your return to the shop by the end of the day.
We had the best time because of him.
RECOMMENDED !

Last week I did the authentic Tuscany ebike Tour. I have been a lot in Tuscany but I have to admit: this has been the most beautiful way to really experience the landscape, because you are really 'in' it.
Although normally I am not a great biker this tour was really great fun and an awesome, easy way to see the countryside, thanks to the ebike.
We had a very kind and helpful guide (Willemijn), who lives in the area.
The bikes are well maintained and easy to handle.
Not everybody in our group was used to ride an ebike, but this was no problem. Willemijn helped where needed, in a very kind and patient way.
Starting from the town of Montespertoli, we cycled through the beautiful countryside, with incredible nice views.
Once in a while Our guide told several facts about the landscape and history which was very nice.
We had a lunch with typical products of the region, with all kind of wonderful cheese, ham and salami, very tasty.
At the end of the tour we did a small wine tasting and had a look around the place.
All in all a great experience and highly recommended!

Our family of 4 (girls age 10 and 13) rented e-bikes from Massimo. What a great time riding thru the nearby towns. The views were stunning. We could not have made it up those hills without the e-bikes. We were so grateful to Massimo and his e-bikes for such a wonderful experience. Real Gem! Thank you!

This was our best experience in the tuscany. It is the nicest way to discover the beautiful landscape! The bikes were very new and in perfect condition: gears shifted smoothly, brakes were very good. The owner of the shop was very helpful in planning the tour. He also equipped us with a small repair set and water bottles :) prices were low for what you got. Thank you Massimo! We appreciate the way you take care of your bikes and your visitors. We had a great time with your bikes!

Massimo took a great deal of time in helping us plan our route and the rental process could not have been any simpler. Jackets, gloves, helmets all readily provided. Any request or question was met with "no problem" by Massimo. I would highly recommend including this experience in a Tuscany visit and Massimo's e-bikes are the way to go for the terrain. Customer service extraordinaire and the beauty of the ride could not be beat. Thank you Massimo!

We did this tour yesterday and found it excellent. The owner (Massimo) and guide (Willemijn) go our of their way to make sure you have a great time, even offering to take my husband and I onto more advanced terrain for the second half of the tour. But we declined since we were having a great time already, enjoying the company and learning about the area from our guide.
The food and wine were great, and the scenery was fantastic. Farms, vineyards, olive orchards, hills and castles, what more could you want? You go up and down quite a few times, into the valley and back into the hills, but it is no problem with the electric bike. If you haven't tried an electric bike before, be prepared to get addicted, and know that anyone can do this tour!
It is only a quick bus ride from Florence to get there, and was the highlight of our Florence trip.

The entire rental process was very smooth especially for a group of three walking in without reservations. The shop is very well equipped for any biking needs/requests - helmet, lock, saddlebags or even a water bottle. A quick explanation and you're well on your way to see the beauty Tuscany has to offer. We had a comfortable, lovely tour of 55k with battery to spare and energy in our legs.

We absolutely loved our half-day e-bike rental. Massimo took such great care of us - checking the bikes and kitting us out with water, helmets, a map, first aid kit and puncture kit. He then sent us off on a route that would suit the time we had - on quiet country lanes through the olive groves and vineyards through to the old town of Certaldo. The e-bikes make it very easy to get up the hills and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Massimo provides great service and if you're in Tuscany make sure to plan some time renting his e-bikes. What fun!

For a truly unforgettable experience of the heart of Tuscany the e-bikes of Toscana by Bike are the way to go. At home (Perth, AU) we do the occasional bike ride but it is a very flat place compared to the hills of Tuscany. The e-bike is a revelation and if you can ride a bike then you can easily ride one of these. We were a group of three - two women and a male all in our mid- sixties - and we were looked after by Massimo wonderfuly. Our bikes were in top condition and we were provided with an excellent map and guidance. To experience the quiet local roads threading through vineyards, olive groves and the ancient towns the e-bikes are perfect. With very little exertion we surprised ourselves by completing one of the longer (35 km) touring options suggested by Massimo. A great day out!

An amazing way to see the Tuscan hills and scenery. We did the eight castle route (and a little bit more) using the e bikes made this so much more pleasurable. We live in Yorkshire so are used to climbing hills, however the Tuscan turrain can be challenging - or would be if it were not for the clever ebike. A couple of clicks and you can ride and view at the time how good is that. Would highly recommend Toscana by Bike, Massimo the owner could not have been more pleasant or helpful. Give it a try you have nothing to loose but everything to gain. D and E Mc

My husband and I were staying in Montespertoli and we enjoy riding bikes (casually). So I jumped on this when I saw it! Massimo and the other gentleman in the shop were so helpful and thorough with getting our ebikes set up. We opted for the half day rental and followed the audio guide route on their website. They gave us a phone mount for the bike so it was easy to follow and bottled water and delicious black plums to snack on during the ride! The views that we took in were so beautiful and unforgettable. I highly recommend renting bikes from Massimo if you're in the area. We booked the rental by just emailing them through their website. Grazie Massimo and Willemijn!

Massimo the owner is very helpful and his e-bikes are excellent. We followed 2 of his itineraries on 2 days and then rode to San Gimignano on day 3, where we were then picked up from. Collection cost €20. My daughter (20) is a reluctant biker at home but managed well here and enjoyed it immensely. You really don't need a high fitness level, just ability to ride a normal bike on the flat or slight incline at home. If in doubt try it out first, as he'll happily lend you a trial one. I strongly recommend this as an activity while you are here. It's a great way to see the landscape and rewarding go be a bit active. The bikes are the Bosch system and very smooth to use. He also has rear hub system and normal bikes. All are in excellent nick. Gracie Mille Massimo!

We were staying in Florence for a few days and wanted to see Tuscany. After stumbling on a review for Toscanabybike, we called and Massimo helped us get set up by phone/email on short notice. The next day we took the bus an hour out of Florence and rented 3 e-bikes from Massimo (adult couple & 12 year old son). The bikes looked brand new and top of the line. Massimo was amazing - the highest customer service I've experienced in a long while: Personable, kind, well set up business, top-notch equipment. Besides well laid out maps, free water, helmets, locks, repair kit, etc, Massimo drove round to check on us about an hour into our ride. We ended up riding 33km in 7 hours with lots of stops and an early dinner - so easy with the e-bike help! Massimo was right - it was worth staying out till the end of the day as the hills were just magical in the late afternoon. It was a perfect day of riding.

Awesome. Cannot recommend enough. We've hired bikes in the UK and abroad and this was the best service, best quality bikes and most incredible scenery we've had. If you're unsure about cycling in Italy and round the very hilly area of Tuscany...don't be. The ebikes make it nice and enjoyable and not too much hard work whilst still getting some exercise to burn off all the pasta!! We don't cycle at home very often but we are reasonably fit..If I can do it then anyone can! The company obviously really care about their customers too. They should be very proud of what they have. Thank you...one of the highlights of our trip! Katie and Dan

We highly recommend this for anyone looking to enjoy the Tuscany countryside by bike. The E-bikes enabled our moderately active family (including a 12-year old and 10-year old) to tackle many steep hills and do a 30 km ride in about 3 hours. We never would have made it on normal bikes but we had a lot of fun. We opted to rent the bikes and go off on our own and they showed us a few options and gave us a map. We got slightly lost a few times but with the help of a GPS on our phone we managed to find our way. We ended up caught in a huge downpour and thunderstorms but despite all that it became a huge adventure and although we were sopping wet in the end we had a blast. (The owner did tell us to call him if we needed anything and he told us afterwards he would have picked us up.) We were very impressed with the service and safety standards (they provide helmets and check all the bikes and had the kids try them before leaving). Well worth the money and a great way to see the beautiful countryside!

They declined but were very appreciative of how helpful he was in outfitting them for their trip. The bikes are in good condition, they were given great suggestions on where to stop to eat and take in wonderful views, and provided great maps to follow.
They had a wonderful time albeit a very strenuous ride. They both agreed that the next time they would take Massimo's advice!

We rented e-bikes for our large family group with kids from 4-17. The electric assist was the only way to traverse the amazingly gorgeous Tuscan hills. Our group of younger kids rode towards Certaldo, which was a beautiful medieval town. Our older kids explored in a different direction and enjoyed a mid-point stop at Bananas gelato. Sunset over the Tuscan landscape is incredible. Mossimo is a delight. They were super accommodating and provided detailed maps and water and are available if problems arise.

We rented MTBs for five days and made some good trips. The advantage of a MTB is the possibility of travelling on gravel roads and you can easier take the steep climbs.
It was very easy to book and Willemijn was very service minded. Can really recommend to book through Toscana by Bike

Massimo is a gentleman and energetic business owner and we had a fantastic 3 hour ride up and down the hills of Tuscany. We are a family of 5 with no serious bikers among us and the e-bikes gave us plenty of help to get up the hills. Having said that, the hills are huge and you have to do some work. If you take the e-mountain bikes off onto any of the farm roads (as we did), know that you will be on some pretty steep gravel areas. If that sounds fun, turn off onto the tiny roads. If not, there is plenty you to see on the small paved roads. The views are remarkable and riding down through vineyards on curvy country roads is a tremendous amount of fun.

My son and I rented e-bikes for a 22 mile self-guided tour of the area. The staff were very helpful, gave us good directions and a map, and threw in some free waters. The e-bikes were a hit with my 12 year old and kept the large hills easy for him. No complaining from him! We would rent here again.

Like most people, we had never tried an e-bike but knowing the terrain in Tuscany and our desire to cycle, we decided this was the only option. And what a brilliant decision it was. We were staying in a villa about 10km from Montespertoli and hired the bikes for about 10 days. Massimo couldn't have been more helpful - he delivered and collected the bikes from us, and when two of our party (very fit men in their late 20's) decided to swap their normal mountain bikes for two electric ones, he drove over one morning to do this.

The fact that these two boys, who originally said they wouldn't be seen dead on an e-bike chose to swap, is testament to the quality of the equipment Massimo supplied. I even managed to get my 22yr old daughter out for two trips - thank you Massimo!!!!

One of the bikes came with a GPS and Massimo fitted a phone holder on my bike so I could navigate using the downloaded routes he has on his website (using maps.me - brilliant app). The small lanes are typically very quiet and the strava bianca tracks are great, but be warned, some of them do disappear into nothing, but turning back and having to retreat up the hill on an e-bike is a walk in the park!

It was very easy to cover 35-40km in a couple of hours, we tended to do this at around 5pm, and stop off for a cold beer nearing the end of the ride.

If you enjoy cycling and really want to explore Tuscany then I urge you - call Massimo and hire an e-bike, it will be the best money you spend all holiday!

We quite like doing bike tours on our holidays but this was the first time using E-bikes and I thank God for this invention. We never would have survived riding through the hills of Tuscany without the E-bikes.
We are not super fit athletes and neither are we totally unfit but the hills of Tuscany do present a challenge on a bike for the average person. (I can't believe people regularly do this kind of thing for fun.) Anyway, we set off on our own on the E-bikes and let me tell you, we definitely had to use the electric motor to help us up some of those hills. And coming down the hills we were getting up to and over 40kms/hr and that is with the brakes on!! It is not for the light hearted or first time bike riders.
We had the use of our own GPS and that came in handy as the map is not really detailed enough and neither is the road signage good enough to guide by. We got lost quite often and therefore probably took even more difficult routes than planned but we did survive....just! I can't say it was a fun day but we don't regret doing it. We can dine on our stories of this outing for a while yet.
Massimo was fantastic and extremely helpful. What a nice man he is, but he is probably having a good laugh at us too - the silly tourists who got lost and made their day trip more challenging than it needed to be. He was a good sport, though.
We did have trouble with the battery of one bike towards the end of the day and Massimo came to pick half the group up in his van while the rest continued on. It was fun half hour laughing about how lost we got and how we managed to take the most difficult route possible.
So, I would definitely recommend this company for those of you up for the challenge but make sure you are super clear on exactly where you should be going if you choose to go off without a guide. Take plenty of water & sunscreen with you, a camera for the amazing views, and a sense of humour. A self-guided tour is not for beginners - it is just too hilly and you need to be confident on a bike and be able to follow a map. Enjoy.

We took a bike tour with Toscana by Bike and Massimo was our guide. He took us to beautiful areas and back roads of Tuscany with our three kids. Massimo was kind and funny and so very helpful. The E bikes were great on the hills of Tuscany. We stopped for food at a local place and it was very tasty and refreshing after the ride. I highly recommend Toscana by Bike. Massimo obviously loves his job and biking and it shows! My children said it was one of the highlights of our trip and I have to agree.

We were a party of four adults, some youthful and fit, some in their fifties and not. It doesn't matter what your level of athleticism or skill because the ebike gives you the extra boost you need. Food and wine were served at two different locations along the way...both delicious! The bikes come with a nice sized "basket" to store your things, and a water bottle is provided. The tour lasted about about 6 hours.

We arrived to Toscana for six days, we wanted to visit special places but without a lot of tourists.
In addition we had to entertain our oldest daughter (12 years old) with no phones and the Internet. We went to TOSCANA BY BIKE they told us about how we can spend the day in spectacular views of the picturesque Tuscan towns.
Immediately took the idea, but the experience itself went above our expectations.
We received 3 pairs of new electric mountain bike equipped with everything needed for a walk including water bottles, bags, riding and raincoats (it was cloudy that day). Massimo owner told us specifically how we should use the Maps application on your phone and gave us a map printed just in case we (and indeed we used because we ran out of batteries on the phone).
We made a trip of 40 km in 6 hours when none of us was in best shape. We saw a really nice town that is not found in any travel guide and I'm in doubt if we could rich it without e-bike tour.
We spent a really cool day. A lot of positive emotions and fresh Toscan's air fill all of us. This adventure will never forget!!!
Thanks Massimo !!!
Recommend with all my heart to every one !!!

I rented a touring e-bike from Massimo and Willemijn at Toscana by Bike, and it was a great choice. They put me on a Cannondale-Bosch e-bike and I thought it a great bike and a very good match for the hills of Tuscany. If you are someone like me and not a great cyclist, the e-bike can be just the thing to give you the confidence to get out with biking friends on a day-long tour of the beautiful scenery that Tuscany offers.

We rented two E-Bikes for a trip to Certaldo alto and back. The bikes were chosen with recommendation by the owner to ensure the bikes fit to the driver and the trip. For the trip you get everything you need: a good map, air pump, lock, helmet, spare tube and even a bottle of water. Then we got a lot of additional information about our route, where to stop, places of interest etc. Massimo and his colleagues are very helpful and friendly.
The bikes were very well adjusted (shift, brakes and motor) and the motor helped a lot in the beautiful - but very hilly- Tuscany.
We found everything for a great day in this beautiful surrounding and would certainly do it again.

My husband & I were met with the kind staff of this shop who took time to explain the different routes and suggested the best stopping points! The bikes worked very well & this truly made our experience in Tuscany so personal and special! Be sure to start with a full charge on your phone so you can use the nifty offline navigation app "maps.me"!

Massimo (the owner) is a gentleman, he gave us 3 e-bikes, helmets for adults, which are in perfect conditions, and a brand new "KTM mini me" e-bike for my 10 years old son, who really loved the turbo speed. The electric assistants of the bikes made the biking in the hills a lot easier. If you are beginner just like me and my family and want to discover Toscana by bike, the best things you can do is to rent e-bikes from Massimo!

I highly recommend renting e-bikes from Toscana; it was one of the highlights of our visit. We stayed at Villa le Torri and were interested in a morning biking outing on our own. It was me, my dad (70-years old), and two boys ages 11 and 12. We did lovely loop to a little town - about two hours in total. I love that within a few blocks the fellow from Toscana by Bike drove down to meet us and advised my dad to go a flatter way and me and my boys to go the more adventurous way. Now that's customer service! We would have done an all-day tour if we had more time.

If you want to really explore this beautiful place you should definitely try biking. As I'm not used to uphills, I got an ebike from Massimo's place. The prices are reasonable, the bike worked very well and Massimo recommended a place to try local cheese and meat on the way. We really enjoyed the 8 castles route, it was beautiful with good roads and almost no car traffic. We already plan next years tour. :)

My husband and I had the most wonderful day with the 'Toscana by e-bikes' tour, riding up and down the hills around Montespertoli. Willemijn was a fantastic host and incredibly informative about the area and its history. We made our way past a local wine farm where we got to meet the owner and taste some of his organic wines. Both Willemijn and Massimo (the owner) were very accommodating. When my husband had some trouble continuing on with the bike ride, they quickly adjusted our tour with a wonderful authentic lunch and later, when it started to rain, Massimo took us back to town by car. We then got spoiled with local breads and cheese. An unforgeable day! Thank you Willemijn and Massimo.

Great way to explore the Chianti Region.
My brother and I had a great day cycling trough Tuscany, the day started with the collection of the bikes in the morning. Massimo (the owner) made sure that the bikes were completely prepared to our wishes, including filled bidons. He took all the time to tell us about the best routes, must-see and must-do's. The bikes were modern and good serviced, excellent bikes for both on and off-road. A day to never forget Grazie Massimo!

Toscana by Bike was recommended to us by our Air Bnb hosts, and we are so incredibly glad to have experienced their E-Bikes!! My husband and I stayed in a more remote area of the Tuscan countryside without a car rental, and these bikes were the perfect way to get around, be spontaneous, and truly soak up the gorgeous views. Easy to operate, and the assisted motor was a miracle- getting us up hills with ease! In fact, we felt as if we were riding on flat land the entire time.

Willemijn and Massimo went absolutely above and beyond to answer our questions and accommodate us in any way we needed through email, WhatsApp, and by phone. They were flexible with our scheduling and rescheduling, and they dropped off and picked up our bikes from our Air BnB as needed. They offered creative ideas and solutions of where to go, what to do, etc. When there was rain in the forecast, they were willing to wait until the morning of our rental to drop off the bikes depending on the weather. I would HIGHLY recommend thinking outside the car and renting an E-Bike during a stay in the countryside. If you are planning a stay in Florence, I would also recommend using their guide as a way to get there, as they will transport your luggage for you there! Completely awesome experience with Willemjin and Massimo!

Toscana by bike is a wonderful day trip bike ride through the country side of Tuscany just outside the city center of Florence. Parking is easy, the shop is welcoming and has a broad assortment of bikes to choose from. Anyone can enjoy the bike ride because there are bikes for all levels. We were guided by Massimo, the owner, who was very friendly and knoweldgeable about the area. We rode through the Lucardo & Semifonte regions where we stopped to pick grapes off the vine. My 13 year old son especially loved this because his parents are wine lovers. lol :). Along our journey we saw a 1/8th scale replica of the Duomo. Massimo said people travel from all over the world to get engaged or married there. We walked through a medieval town of Certaldo, which is similar to famed San Giminiagno but less touristy. We bought amaretto cookies and toured the museum. We had lunch that was de-licious! at an Agritourismo place called "Podere Pagliere" with owners Laura and Luigi. They peronsally greeted us and made lunch from produce grown on the property. The flavors of the food and wine and the memories of good company are with me to this day.

We highly recommend Toscana by bike. It is for sure one of the things you have to do if you visit Florence. Make sure to bring a camera, comfortable shoes and clothing. We recommend you take the whole day because it is a peaceful and beautiful journey on bike through one of the most beautiful and picturesque places on earth! :) :) :)

We found this company through Trip Advisor and contacted them for a e-bike tour. We were able to set up an itinerary via email with Willemijn, who turned out to be our guide. Since we were staying in Florence, she was extremely helpful in getting us information on which bus to take to get to Montespertoli - about a 40 min bus ride from Florence. She met us at the bus stop and took us to the bike shop, owned by Massimo, to get our e-bikes. Then she, my wife and I went on a 4 hour bike ride in the hills around Montespertoli. Having an e-bike made all the difference given some of the gradients we had to navigate! I am convinced e-bikes are one of mankind's better inventions! Willemijn was awesome- very knowledgeable about the area so we would stop at various vantage points to admire the view. It was like a relaxing bike ride with friends as we chatted along the way. We stopped off , as part of the tour, at the Sonnini castle and winery. Had some good wines and lunch served out on the patio there, followed by a short tour of the winery and olive oil pressing area. All in all, a great way to spend the day in Tuscany. Highly recommend Willemijn, Massimo and the e-bikes! You will not regret it!

Toscana by Bike is a little shop in Monterspertoli, a 50 minute bus ride from Florence, specialising in bike tours and e-bikes. The owner Massimo is super friendly and has some great routes to suggest. We took his advice and rode down to Fiano for panoramic views over the superb Chianti region of Tuscany (we went with the regular mountain bikes, which was a workout, but very rewarding!). Get to Monterspertoli early to enjoy the mists shrouding the valley in the morning, and the sun-drenched vineyards and olive groves in the afternoon.
Make sure you ring ahead, as opening times may vary unexpectedly.
Thanks for a great day out Massimo!

Together with my mum I spent a week in the city centre of Florence. We contacted 'Toscana by Bike' to book the 'e-bike tour into Florence'. The service they provide with much care could not be better : quick response (phone and e-mail, in English/Italian/Dutch, perfect and all-in equipment : amazing bikes (powerful & stable), delicious regional snacks, water, safety gear. They are also very considerate about individual needs (type of bike ; height of the saddle) which was not redundant as one of us has back problems.
Having spent a couple of days in the busy city centre it felt like seeing the other side of the moon. Despite the infinite beauty of the city itself, while cycling through the countryside I felt like experiencing an as beautiful but very different Tuscany. The setting changed but the warm welcome of Willemijn & Massimo remained 'Italian': generous and sincere. We are very grateful to them for which was the highlight of our holiday in Italy. Of course…we can't wait to return.

Took the history tour with some family members (ages ranged from 35 to 65 years old) and everyone really enjoyed it. It takes a little time to get used to the electric bike if you've never been on one, but once you get the hang of it, it's quite fun and makes the hills feel like a breeze.
The tour guides were very knowledgeable about the area and always made sure the riders were safe when biking on some of the busier roads (one guide in the front and one in the back at all times). The best part of the tour is the ending at a local organic winery where the owner showed us the wine making process and fed us some local cheese and salami.
Everything had a very personal touch, which I loved. I highly recommend Toscana by Bike if you're staying in the Montespertoli area!

We wanted to try biking in Tuscany and found this shop nearby in Montespertoli. You can rent mountain bikes or e-bikes (electronic mountain bikes) and they have recommended routes that you can try. All of the routes are on their website toscanaebike.com. You can also download these routes to your mobile phone. This made it very easy.
The shopkeeper was tremendously helpful and gave us a shortcut on the 8 castle tour as we started a little late in the day. He provided bike saddle bags for water, locks, and emergency equipment. All this came with the rental of €35/bike. I would also recommend the e-bikes unless you are an accomplished rider. Montespertoli is on a hill and there a few inclines that are quite steep. It was not a problem to go up them however with the e-bikes.
The Italian countryside was absolutely stunning and there are several places to stop along the way to eat.
We had a blast.
Highly recommended!

Arrivederci!

We enjoyed ourselves so much that we came back the second week for a sunset tour, also a big succes!
We can really recommend these tours.

we had a wonderful time Biking around Tuscany, the owner of the shop was very helpful and made sure all our equipment was working properly and had me talk to an associate on the phone who spoke English to make sure we were aware of the difficulties of the hills on our course.
We would recommend this to anyone who might have a couple of hours to enjoy the wonderful scenery. a+

My husband and I booked onto the day long bike tour. The tour took us through the beautiful Tuscan countryside with wonderful views.
We stopped at two vineyards for wine tasting and lunch which was both informative and delicious!
We had two guides accompany the tour which consisted of three couples in total. The bikes were easy to use and the assisted pedaling (e-bike) helped to get up the steep hills. I am not an experienced or confident cyclist but I found the day long route easy to achieve because of the electric bike and also the guide Willemijn was extremely helpful with explaining how to use the bike and she looked after me around the route very well indeed.
The official Italian guide Paulo was an expert in explaining the history and geology of the area which we found really interesting and made the tour very special.
Toscana by bike also picked us up from the nearest station so that we could join the tour easily. Willemijn is an expert translator from Italian to English and Dutch, Paulo is an expert in the local history and landscape and Massimo was wonderfully welcoming.
I highly recommend this tour - it was actually my favorite and most memorable day of my holiday in Tuscany.

We did rent e-bikes for a day. The two mountainbikes were in excellent condition and well equipped (helmet, bike-bags on demand, water, repair kit).
We did ride one of the suggested tours (8 castelli) trough the hills around Montespertoli with splendid views on the valley, the vineyards, castels and villages. We had the tour on a map, but it was also available on smartphone.
The service was outstanding. We made a reservation by phone, and could by surprise even speak Dutch to one of the staff members. The next day we were very well received.
The owner gave us a lot of information, fitted the bikes to our needs and suggested places where we could eat. We had indeed a great meal in a local bar/shop and a very nice tour in the Tuscan hills.
Although i suffer from a reduced ability to use my legs, i managed to bike on hills and slopes which are normally only fit for trained cyclists. Very good service and a fair price.

We had a wonderful time cruising around the lovely cities surrounding Montespertoli. It was a great way of really enjoying the beautiful landscape and making stops whenever we felt like.
The Toscana-by-bike-team was super helpful with giving directions and preparing us for a day by bike.
The E-Bikes were in good shape and perfect for exploring even steep hills characteristic for this area.

We did a biking trip with ebike toscana and realy enjoyed it so much. New mountainbikes in perfect condition, very interesting stories on the surroundings, delicious food, nice biking and good company.
The biking guides really knew what they were doing, knew everything on the history of the region and were extremely friendly.
We would realy recommend going on a trip with toscanaebike since it was really one of the best trips of our holiday in Italy.

When it comes to experiencing rural Toscana nothing can really compare to riding through it in the late afternoon hours.
The team at Toscana by Bike made this experience even more memorable by adding to it friendly attention to details, well kept (and new) equipment and personal guidance.
The electric-assisted bikes proved a blessing over the steep hills of Toscana and the nice snack and wine at a local house acted as the cherry on the top of a very nice experience.

We had an wonderful e-bike tour in July 2015 with a group of Dutch friends. The beautifull landscape and perfect e-bikes (brand new!) together with the guides made our tour unforgettable.
We had an Italian guide and Willemijn translated everything in perfect Dutch.
Now we know a lot more about Tuscany and e-bikes.
We will come back in 2 years!

My 14 year old daughter and I recently spent a wonderful and enjoyable day riding through the beauty and peace of Tuscany.. we loved it! It was a great way to experience the Tuscany landscape and culture. Our extremely knowledge guides entertained us with stories and history of the region, took us to little churches, through wineries and olive groves.
We stopped and had lunch with the owner and his son in a renovated monestary turned winery, loved this part!
And let me just say, the addition of the motor in the e-bike was an awesome, unique and very welcome addition to the ride, especially for the few uphill climbs.
Paolo, Willemijn and Massimo, thank you for a fabulous and memorable experience.
We are grateful.

I had the good fortune of being part of a very informative and enjoyeable bike trip offered through Toscanabybike .
I have been on many other bike tours but this one was superior in many ways:
1) The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable with the history and culture of italy and the surrounding area, in addition to being very personable and fun.
2) The e-bikes and helmets were of high quality, safe and easy to learn.
3) The wine and olive oil tour and lunch were the very best That i have had on a tour.
4) The views were breathtaking and the sites we saw very interesting. I would definitely recommend this tour company.
Thank you Paul and Massimo for all the wonderful conversations and the lovely day.

Friday the 8th of may I joined the guided tour of Massimo and Paulo through the beautiful hills around San Quirico.
We rode the tour on excellent e-bikes of Massimo, starting at 10:30 am. We visited an old farmers house, a ‘fattoria”, a very old water-mill and a beautiful hidden garden.
The explanation of the history and cultural setting was marvelous and openend new insights for me. Surprising!
We had small wine tasting at the famous ‘fattoria’, which consumed perhaps too much time, though I enjoyed it.
Lunch was pleasant and good and the company was great. Very good and interesting conversations.
It seems to me that the tour is attracting interesting people.
Though I am 60 and not a trained biker, I managed very well, even in rather rough areas.
