I'm in Tuscany (Florence) for 7+ weeks and tried to do this early on but had to cancel due to severe thunderstorms. Now, I'm at the end of my time here, and it finally came together so that I could rent an e-bike and ride in the glorious Tuscan countryside. It was a perfect day -- perfect weather, perfect routes, perfect bike (an e-bike is like having a superpower), perfect directions and assistance from Massimo, the delightful owner. I meant to do a 30 km ride but couldn't stop and ended up doing nearly 50 km, getting lost just enough to make it interesting. Massimo was psyched and so was I! Highly recommended. If I'm back next year, I'll do this every chance I get.

Un bellissimo giro da fare in tutto il giorno, partendo la mattina da Montespertoli potrete arrivare a San Gimignano passando dal borgo medievale di Certaldo Alto dove si raccomanda una piccola sosta. In San Gimignano potrete fare un pranzo e ricaricare le batterie in un posto sicuro e quindi visitare la cittadina, per poi felicemente rientrare nel pomeriggio..

This 30 km route is really lovely, not only because you pass so many old castles, but you cycle on small roads in the middle of vineyards, fields of grain, old farmhouses and olive groves. Tuscany at its best, with cypress trees planted exactly in the right places, often hundreds of years ago.
